Renovation to an existing Queenslander style home
Budget: Approx. $200K
Duration: 4 Months
Year: 2014
- Sloping rear site with limited site access.
- Previous attempts at home renovation by previous owners needed to be rectified.
- Keep new works traditional and in keeping with the original house.
- Installation of a large 10m steel beam to create a cantilever to support a roof over operable corner bi-folding doors.
- Large and highly detailed joinery, doors and window.
With help from the owner we negotiated site access through the back of the property from an adjoining neighbour. Enabling a workable solution to overcome the limited access.
Enlisting the services of a highly reputable and professional joinery company RWD Joinery ensure all joinery was produced to the high degree detail specified by the architect. Ensuring the new renovated areas complemented the existing home.
With the use of City Hire we were able to use lifting devices in a confined space to install the cantilever beam.
The clients were very happy with the recycled pine flooring that was installed in the newly created living area, it was a perfect match to the existing and came out of the RNA Showgrounds.
The clients ended up with a home that created a new lifestyle for them, one that enabled easy entertaining with friends and family.
Comments from clients family and friends: “What’s holding up the roof”.
